A few photos first just to wet the appetite, actually it was taking so long to drag them to the bottom of the page I gave up, I will have to talk to teamscribe tomorrow to find out how to do it.

Getting ready to leave the yacht club
Onshore now, after a pretty good day on the water.
After a delayed start as a result of no wind we managed to get on the water at 11.30am. We have to tow the kids out to the racetrack as it is quite a distance. The yacht club is situated behind an island which has a reef running along it, so the only way out is to go around it. The day started with a wind speed of around 8 knots with a reasonably calm sea state. The race committee were keen to get started today in the hope of getting 3-4 races in. This caught quite a few sailors out (us included) as we were quite away up the first beat doing speed tests when we realised the orange flag was up, we had to tow our sailors down to the start line and let them go just before the four minute gun, there were a few sailors less fortunate who did not make it back to the start line in time.
We managed to get four races in today which was great, but the boys were definitely struggling by the end of the day, you just can't hide from that heat. As the day progressed the swell and chop built up but I don't think it would have got over 8 knots. Chris(coach) made the comment today that he would love to sail here as he felt it was really challenging, just when you think you have it sorted you get a curve ball thrown in. We are always seeing a split fleet from the start and Chris is always keen to see which side pays off, infact I think Chris and Rob may have put a lazy fiver on one race as to which would pay off. Heaps of discussion on board as to what to do where to go and why, even the experts don't get it right all the time. By the end of the day we had thunder and lightning, quite an eeiry feeling to be out in.
The Results:
Race 1 - Leonard 1st Markus 2nd Isaac 7th (pretty solid way to start the day)
Race 2 - Markus 2nd Isaac 3rd Leonard 25th
Race 3 - Isaac 1st Markus 5th Leonard 34th
Race 4 - Isaac 14th Markus 23rd Leonard 27th
Overall - Markus 4th Isaac 7th Leonard 15th.

So all in all some fantastic results infact we thought Markus had won race two which would have given all the boys bullets (first place for the non sailors reading), definitely got everyone talking about the Kiwis.
Tomorrow is the last day of sailing with the possibility of 3 races being sailed so that will bring the total races sailed up to 11, which will allow the boys to take their second drop. Should be an interesting day on the water, Oh and by the way thank you to all you Kiwis for sending the rain over we thought we had left that at home !!! (mind you it only lasted for ten minutes)
Until tomorrow !!
