Race Day 2

Hi All Scott here, I couldn't let Rob do all the work so I thought I would have a turn sitting by the bar and drinking the beer for a change. Apologies in advance for the lack of sailing terminology but I am sure I will be corrected by the team tomorrow, anyway here goes..

Race Day 2:
Started off as normal, HOT, I think we are all starting to climatise a little but still so energy zapping as soon as you walk outside your room. Some of us are in transition from white to pink whilst the more olive of us are just getting browner.

Good to see Leonard has some colour in his cheeks today, enough to avoid another jab in the butt which I am sure he will be pleased about.

When we arrived at the yacht club there seemed to be a bit of breeze which looked promising as the breeze does not seem to come in till around noon. This was short lived as the day only gave us a max of around 8 knots. The thunderclouds are still hanging around which according to the locals is effecting the normal sea breeze conditions they get here. As a consequence they only managed to get two races in today, they started the third but abandoned it as the first boat did not make it to the top mark inside the 30 minutes allowed. Results from today are;

Race 1: Markus 4th, Isaac 6th and Leonard 18th

Race 2: Markus 11th Leonard 10th and Isaac 12th (according to the official results but there was probably less than 1/2 a boat length between all 3)

Overall: Markus 6th, Isaac 9th and Leonard 13th

Good to see our guys are competitive though, in Race 2 all three of them were in top 5 spots after rounding the gate heading for the finish line, there was plenty of breeze out left so this is where they were heading them whammo big righty which hung them and plenty of others out to dry, thats sailing as they say.

A third race started with a light breeze and quite a strong current down the course. The 30minute time limit expired and the race was abandoned when the top group including all 3 of our boys were about 150m from the top mark

Anyway still a few more days so fingers crossed. Hopefully a shorter course tomorrow or some more wind, it would be great to get more than two races in.

Unfortunately my camera went flat today so no photos sorry, I will make up for it tomorrow.
